On Monday, April 12 at 2:53 a.m., the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a single story structure fire at 795 Mission Oaks Lane, located in Mission Canyon. According to County Fire’s Michael Dyer, the response involved three engines, one ladder truck, a battalion chief, division chief, and investigator.

With its previous tenant recently moved out, the residence was unoccupied. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters said the fire was through the roof of the house. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut holes into the roof, thus providing ventilation and helping to extinguish the blaze. The flames were extinguished quickly, and its cause is under investigation. The home was reportedly heavily damaged.
