A man alleged to have murdered a Faria Beach couple in Ventura last year was connected to that case this week, nearly a year after the fact, thanks to DNA sample collected in connection with an armed robbery of a Santa Barbara gas station in January. DNA taken from Joshua Packer when he was arrested in Santa Barbara was matched to DNA entered into a statewide database by Ventura authorities, according to officials during a press conference on 4/12. Packer, who was out on bail in the robbery charges, is back under arrest and now faces charges in both cases.
