First Direct to Artist Grant Winners Announced

The winners of the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative’s (SBAC) first-ever Direct to Artist grants were announced during a 4/16 ceremony. Funding for the grants—10 of which were awarded out of 87 applicants—came from the Santa Barbara Foundation, the city’s Redevelopment Agency, and SBAC fundraisers. Winners, their grant amounts, and competing categories were: Russ Spencer, Catherine Bennett, and Jody Nelson who were all awarded $1,500 within the Film & New Media category; Michelle Detorie, $1,500 in Literary Arts; Nell Campbell, Jane Callister, and Bob Mask, $1,500 each in Visual Arts; and Cybil Gilbertson, $1,500, and Pablo Pizano and Madalena Fossatti, $750, in Performing Arts.
