Man Killed By Train
Midday Collision with Northbound Amtrak Train Occurred Near Refugio Beach
A man was killed today after being hit by a northbound Amtrak train about one-quarter mile east of Refugio State Beach, near the walking and biking path that connects Refugio to El Capitan State Beach.
The man, who was not identified but was said to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Sheriff’s Department is looking into the reason for the accident, which occurred around 1:20 p.m.
