Deputies Search for Masked Gunman

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office is searching for anyone with information regarding a shooting on Tuesday, May 18 at the Mobil gas station on Hollister Avenue and Turnpike Road. Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting report around 9:18 pm, when an armed gunman robbed and shot a gas station clerk.

The clerk was taken to the hospital to be treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the abdomen by the masked man. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately six-feet-tall weighing an estimated 170-180 lbs. Dressed in all black, with a beanie and a bandana covering his head and face, the suspect entered the station, demanded money, and shot the clerk after he handed over the cash. The gunman was last seen running south on Turnpike Road with an undisclosed amount of money.
