As National Voter Registration Month kicks off, Secretary of State Debra Bowen reminded Californians this week that now is the time to check their voter status or register for the first time. A voter must re-register to vote after changing names, permanent residence, or political party choice. People who want to register can fill out a form online on the Secretary of State’s Web site, then print, sign, and mail it. Forms can also be picked up at any county elections office, public library, or U.S. post office.
