Seven-Car Crash on Highway 154
Two Vehicles Careened Over Embankment; One Person Confirmed Dead
One person has been killed and at least two others seriously injured in a traffic accident on Highway 154 that occurred just before 8:30 p.m. this evening.
According to the CHP’s incident report Web site, seven vehicles were involved in the crash about a quarter mile from Stagecoach Road near the top of the pass. Two cars reportedly careened over the embankment and one caught fire.
CHP officials say one or more people were ejected, and search and rescue teams are aiding response efforts. A helicopter has also been flown in as crews work to locate all victims.
Two people have been transported to Cottage Hospital thus far with serious injuries.
As of 9:55 p.m., 154 is fully closed at Highway 246 and Cathedral Oaks Road and will remain so for at least another two hours. Rescue and fire teams continue to work at the scene.
There is no word yet on what may have caused the accident.
