Despite the fact that there were around 12,000 more people partying this year in Isla Vista for the three-day Halloween celebration compared to last year (approximately 25,000 in 2009 versus 37,000 in 2010), the number of arrests and citations were down, reported Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Drew Sugars this week. Deputies made 251 arrests (they made upward of 300 in 2009) and issued 488 citations (down from move than 700 last year). The hospital treated 46 of the merrymakers over the course of the three days.
