Human Services Fund Grant Process Begins
County Human Services Commission Initiates Applications for Grants Beginning July, 2011
The Santa Barbara County Human Services Commission is initiating its grant application process for grants to begin on July 1, 2011.
It is estimated that $1,214,100 per year will be granted to nonprofit agencies throughout the County, subject to the final budget decisions of the Board of Supervisors.
To be recommended for grant funding, programs are required to provide one or more of the following services (not listed in order of priority):
˗ Services to older adults
˗ Essential human services for food
˗ Emergency and transitional shelter
˗ Transportation
˗ Medical, dental, and mental health services, including substance abuse treatment
˗ Affordable child care, early childhood education, and after-school services
˗ Parenting and multi-generational life skills services focused on prevention
The Human Services Commission will give special consideration to:
˗ Programs that provide outreach and services to people in lower economic brackets and/or in generally underserved locations
˗ Programs that minimize duplication and maximize resources through collaborative proposals
˗ Programs that emphasize volunteer development and training
In order to be eligible for a grant, a representative of each applicant agency MUST attend one mandatory Grant Application Workshop. The Workshops will be held on Tuesday, November 30 at the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, 511 E. Lakeside Parkway, Santa Maria, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, December 1 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Public Health Department Auditorium, 300 N. San Antonio Road, Santa Barbara.

Grant applications will be due no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011, and must be delivered to the Human Services Program office at 345 Camino del Remedio, Building 4, Room 322, Santa Barbara.
