Girl Talk's All Day

If you’ve been anywhere near a dance floor in the past two years, chances are you’ve heard Girl Talk. The deejay (street name: Greg Gillis) cracked the scene in no small way back in 2008 with Feed the Animals, his hour-long, 14-track collection of mash-ups that had Yung Berg going head-to-head with George Harrison. On All Day, Gillis continues his whacked-out brand of sample smashing and comes away with another nonstop party of a disc. Truth be told, All Day mostly updates the so “now” snippets that made up Animals. But the reason it works so well is that the past two years have provided us with more immediately infectious pop than any prior. Thanks to ruthless pop genius like “Disco Stick” and “Single Ladies,” Gillis can’t go wrong. So long as the majors keep churning out the über-catchy, semi-scandalous hits, Girl Talk will stay on top of the remix game. And we’ll keep blasting it, top volume, and dancing along.
