Santa Maria Levee Repair Gets Last Needed Funding
The final $6 million needed to complete the Santa Maria River Levee repair — to ensure the levee will be able to hold up during a 100-year flood event — is included in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers funding for 2012. Representative Lois Capps worked with the Corps to make sure the project was shovel ready for more than $40 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act money used during construction completed last year. She also worked with Senator Dianne Feinstein to secure $7 million to begin construction at the outset.
