Stabbing at Mesa Party
Friday Night Fight Leaves Two Men with Wounds; One Fighting for Life at Cottage Hospital
A party on the lower Mesa near Santa Barbara City College erupted into a brawl on Friday evening just before midnight, leaving two white men with stab wounds. The 23-year-old victim was treated for his injuries and released, but the 40-year-old victim remains in Cottage Hospital with what Santa Barbara police are describing as life-threatening injuries.
The party occurred on the 1000 block of Del Mar Avenue, and witnesses say that the victims were arguing with several suspects outside of the party. That verbal confrontation got physical and left both victims bleeding with knife wounds.
The investigation is ongoing, with a forensic team currently on scene Saturday afternoon. No arrests have been made.
