Local Rabbi Arthur Gross-Schaefer Named a ‘Best Professor’

The selections for the guide were made on the basis of student ratings provided to the online review site RateMyProfessors.com and from a combination of surveys and interviews conducted by Princeton Review staff. Only 121 colleges and universities had faculty included in the guide. Of those, just a handful of universities nabbed as many spots on the list as LMU which had five faculty members acknowledged for their teaching excellence.

Professor/Rabbi Arthur Gross-Schaefer has taught at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles for over 33 years teaching law and ethics and has served as the chair of the department of marketing and business law for over ten years.

In addition to this national honor, he has just been selected by Loyola Marymount as the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Rains Award for Excellence in Service, which is given each year to a faculty member “whose service is truly extraordinary and exemplifies the LMU mission in an outstanding manner.” Dr. Gross-Schaefer has previously been awarded the Fritz B. Burns Distinguished Teaching Award. He is the first professor to have won both university awards for distinguished teaching and excellence in service.
