Memorial Service for David Bisol
Planned for This Sunday in the Historical Museum's Courtyard
A memorial service for David Bisol will be held this Sunday. The Santa Barbara Historical Museum director passed away on April 21 at the age of 60. He suffered serious injuries in an accidental fall earlier this month.
Bisol grew up in Goleta and majored in history at UCSB. He first joined the museum as a junior historian and served as its curator for 17 years before he was appointed executive director in 2007.
“David brought incredible drive, creativity, and passion to what he often described as his ‘dream job,'” said a museum spokesperson in a prepared statement. “His imaginative touch with exhibitions, his managerial expertise, and leadership inspired all who worked with him at the Museum. His loss is deeply felt.”
The memorial service will be held in the museum’s courtyard at 136 East De la Guerra Street on May 6 at 1 p.m. The David S. Bisol Memorial Fund has been established by the museum to receive donations on his behalf to continue his legacy of “building a future worth remembering,” the spokesperson said.
