The $2,500.00 scholarship, based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics, and potential for future success, was presented at the DPHS awards ceremony by Kathy Raschka, President of P.E.O. Chapter OK which recommended Shandeep for this scholarship. Shandeep, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darshan Ahdi, has been accepted and will attend UCSB where she plans to study Biopsychology beginning this fall.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded in 1869 at Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant Iowa is an international philanthropic educational organization, which promotes increased educational opportunities for women. P.E.O. provides loans, grants and scholarships through its six philanthropies. There are approximately 6, 000 local chapters in the U.S. and Canada with more than 350,000 members. The sisterhood has given nearly $190 million in financial assistance to more than 80,000 women. P.E.O. also owns Cottey College, a two-year liberal arts college in Nevada, Missouri.
