High-end jewelry designer Scott Gauthier plans to open his third jewelry boutique on State Street this August. The new store, formerly occupied by Paper Star, will be located at 921 State and is set to open its doors August 11.

For Gauthier, opening this store marks the end of a two-and-a-half-year effort to get a spot on State Street. Known for the aesthetic appeal of his pieces as well as for his traditional methods, the jeweler and his family have spent the last five summers vacationing in Santa Barbara. Those vacations prompted Gauthier to expand his business and buy a home here to formally join what he calls this “gem of a city.”

According to Gauthier, the 1,500-square-foot, designed-like-an-art gallery boutique will feature many pieces that have been designed specifically for the Santa Barbara store. He hopes that the store’s unique setup and his appreciation for one-of-a kind pieces will be shared by Santa Barbarans.

“The store will showcase the latest pieces to be viewed like sculptures and pieces of art,” Gauthier said. “I am hoping to go back to the client that wants something special, something unique and is more discriminating, rather than mass-produced jewelry that could be for anyone and everyone.”
