Nationally recognized and award-winning architect Lawrence Scarpa, FAIA, will discuss “Greening Architecture.” Los Angeles-based Brooks + Scarpa Architects was named the AIA National Firm of the Year and AIA California Council Firm of the Year in 2010. The firm also was the only architecture organization in the country to garner a pair of Committee on the Environment National Awards last year for its green and sustainable designs.

Prior to Scarpa’s talk, Santa Barbara architect Michael Holliday, FAIA, will give a presentation to the local AIA Chapter on “AIA Fellowship Demystified.” Last month, Holliday was named an AIA fellow at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Only 3 percent of the nation’s architects have that honor.

A South Coast architect for more than two decades, Holliday also is the founder and designer of the Synergy Business and Technology Center, which opened in April to provide low-cost, shared workspace for start-up companies and firms that are ready to accelerate their success.
