SBIFF Silver Screen Bash Saturday Night

The fourth annual Santa Barbara Film Festival Silver Screen Bash will be held Saturday, July 14, at 6 p.m. General admissions tickets to the event at the QAD building in Summerland are $75 each and still available. A fundraiser for the free SBIFF attractions and educational services, the night includes live entertainment, catering from 17 local eateries, and a silent auction.

“This year’s Silver Screen Bash has everything our guests enjoy about the Bash, along with some new and exciting elements,” said Roger Durling, festival director in a prepared statement. “Most importantly, the festival’s free children’s education and community outreach programs benefit from this evening’s festivities and the generosity of those attending.”

“The truth is the festival is a nonprofit organization with year-round programs that wouldn’t exist without the help of charitable foundations, corporate sponsors, and most importantly, the support of the local community,” said SBIFF Director of Operations Rodney Gould in an interview. This event, he explained, benefits a number of outreach programs, including Field Trip to the Movies, AppleBox Family Films, the 10-10-10 Student Screenwriting and Filmmaking Competition, the SBIFF College Intern Program, and 3rd Weekend.

Last year, these programs served more than 12,000 children and families from all over Santa Barbara County, including many from Title I schools who received free bus trips to town. Participants came from as far away as Santa Maria to the north and Carpinteria in the south.
