Santa Barbara County firefighters are mopping up a small grass fire that began at around 12:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the 1400 block of North San Marcos Road in Goleta.

The County Fire Department, said spokesperson David Sadecki, responded with four engines, a helicopter, and two chief officers. They were assisted by two engines from the U.S. Forest Service as well as CHP personnel.

The fire burned the west side of the road, pushed by a light westerly wind. Temperatures at the time were in the high 80s. Though the blaze was 90 percent contained by 1:30 p.m., live downed power lines slowed the effort. Firefighters had it completely under control by 2:05 p.m.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Sadecki.
