Fat Tuesday
RETURN OF FAT TUESDAY: Thirty years ago, back when skinny jeans, scraggly hair, and furry mustaches were cool (oh wait …), a rootsy, New Orleans–inspired rock band rattled the cages of Santa Barbara’s music scene. This coming Tuesday, August 28, they’re back, as Fat Tuesday — with Mark Comstock on guitar, Casey Jones on drums, Gary Sangenitto on bass, Scott Kaufman on keyboards/harmonica, David Feldman on guitar/keyboards, and Guy Tokunaga on the mixing board — lands at the Creekside for a one-off show of historic proportions. “It’s a bucket-list thing,” said Fat Tuesday’s keyman Kaufman, who’s been in charge of The Santa Barbara Independent’s distribution for the paper’s nearly quarter-century existence. “This was the only nonmusical job I ever had,” he explained, noting that the band will only have two rehearsals before the show. So come on down to the Creekside on Tuesday to see if he should have stuck in rock ’n’ roll. Show starts at 8 p.m.
