Their Story: Since the 1950s, the Desales family has been farming in the Goleta Valley. In the family for three generations, the small 10-acre farm is run by three brothers, all committed to fresh, organic produce.
“Organic practices are very important to our farm,” said Peter Desales. “We never use any sprays and use chicken manure as our main fertilizer. It’s great to provide healthy, pesticide-free produce to our community.”
With the valley’s temperate climate, the small farm is able to create farm-fresh produce year-round. Growing up on the farm, Desales is committed to growing the family business.
“I’ve done this all my life; I loved driving the tractor as a child,” said Desales. “Now that I work the markets, it’s fun to share my experiences with others. It’s very social!”
