[UPDATE, 1:20 p.m.]: Santa Barbara authorities are still working to determine the identity of the person found dead this morning on the beach below Del Playa Drive in Isla Vista. The subject, a Sheriff’s Department press release says, is described as a white male in his mid-20s with short, brown curly hair, brown eyes, and no scars or tattoos. He’s 5’10” tall, 190 pounds, and clean-shaven.

“If the public believes that they may know the identity of this subject, or perhaps they are missing someone that fits the above description, they are encouraged to please call the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at (805) 683-2724,” the press release states.

[ORIGINAL REPORT]: The body of a young man was found wrapped in kelp below the Isla Vista cliffs at around 9 a.m. this morning. Sheriff’s deputies and Coroner’s Office personnel are on the scene, but little information about the death has been released, including the man’s name. He was discovered below the 6500 block of Del Playa Drive.
