The event will be held Sunday November 18th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM.

“This is a public event, and we’re cooking for 300”, said Major Phil Smith.

A team of more than 30 volunteers is planning to serve Thanksgiving dinner to residents of the “Sally”, as it is fondly known, as well as community members in need. The feast will be held in the Sally’s Dining Hall at 423 Chapala St. Live music will be provided by Teresa Russell and Stephen Geyer for attendees to enjoy.

“The Salvation Army Hospitality House is grateful for the opportunity to provide this meal to our community,” said Executive Director Mark Gisler. “We also want to recognize the generosity of the Santa Barbara community in helping us orchestrate this event. The turkeys were made possible by a significant donation by Matt Lanford.”

The Hospitality House is a 70-bed Transitional Living Program designed to assist single, homeless men and women. The program’s overall objective is for residents to become self-sufficient, and maintain secure employment and safe housing.

The program is structured, emphasizing support and accountability. The rules that are in place encourage a safe and healthy environment for all residents. The program has identified that drug and alcohol use is a significant snare that impedes residents’ success in life. As a result, the program requires abstinence from drugs and alcohol.
