Parents, friends, students, colleagues, and teachers all gathered on Monday night at Petros on State Street to launch Joan and Les Esposito into retirement. The founders of the Dyslexia Awareness and Resource Center decided to cease operations after 21 years because of health concerns and increasing difficulty securing funding. Sometime gadflies to the schools, the Espositos ​— ​through support and advocacy ​— ​shepherded countless children with learning disabilities successfully through high school and college graduation. Theresa Gorey, learning specialist at Crane, called Joan “a warrior for children.”
