Construction Crew Breaks Gas Line on Chapala Street

Construction crews working on the Alma Del Pueblo mixed-use development on Chapala Street between Sola and Victoria punched a hole in a nearby gas line at around 1:45 p.m. this afternoon, said a City Fire spokesperson. The accident prompted the evacuation of the work site and surrounding outdoor areas, but the leak was plugged within 10 minutes and the situation quickly controlled. A few businesses in the 1300 block of State Street remain without gas, but service will be restored in the coming hour, said the spokesperson.
