Larry Mouchawar Dies

Services for Larry Mouchawar, a four-time All-American water polo player at UCSB, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, at the Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village (5495 Via Rocas). Mouchawar, who died last week by suicide, played for the Gauchos from 1980-84 and continued to be active in water polo the rest of his life, leading the Santa Barbara Masters to a bronze medal in the 2012 World Masters Championships at age 50. He was inducted into the Gaucho Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. His family is asking that donations be made to the Boston University School of Medicine Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy (CSTE), which was established to support research for athletes who sustain brain injuries.
