With the January 1 retirement of longtime Assistant City Administrator Marcelo Lopez, City Hall is reorganizing many of its executive duties to fill the void, temporarily in some cases. Paul Casey moves to his Assistant City Administrator position full-time and now oversees the Community Development, Finance, Parks and Recreation, Library, and Airport departments. City Planner Bettie Weiss takes over one of Casey’s former jobs and becomes Acting Community Development Director; she supervises Planning and Development services, Building and Safety, and Housing and Human services. And Employee Relations Manager Kristy Schmidt is now the Acting Administrative Services Director and manages the City Clerk, Information Systems, and Human Resources divisions.

Editor’s Note: This brief has been corrected to note Casey’s full-time status at City Administration and Weiss’s acting director capacity at Community Development — a position under active recruitment. Schmidt’s acting director status at Administrative Services was also added.
