Supes Approve Funding for Psych Nurses, Tech Support

The Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to expand the existing contract between Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Services (ADMHS) and Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. so that the department can hire temporary psychiatric nurses and medical coders. The agreement between ADMHS and Maxim for July 2013 – June 2014 was originally for $100,000, but was increased to $350,000, as the department expects more services will be necessary. The nurses will help with ADMHS’s staffing shortage, and the coders will help ensure that services are coded properly for Medicare billing.
