Local Santa Barbara dentists, Dr. Marc Alexander, Dr. Raymond Kubisch, Dr. Terry Pannkuk and Dr. David Hall, will be traveling to Scottsdale, Arizona from January 19-25, 2014 to compete against 11 teams of dentists from around the world in the first-ever World Team Treatment Planning Championships. Teams from Taiwan, Germany, the US and Canada will be vying for the clinical title.

Each clinician involved in this single-elimination tournament, hosted by Seattle Study Club®, will work with their interdisciplinary team to create the best treatment plan for several complex cases. Secret ballots cast by 400 of the world’s top dentists who will be attending this historic dental Symposium will choose the winning team.

Drs. Alexander, Kubisch, Pannkuk and Hall are each part of the Santa Barbara Dental Study Group (SBDSG) and are quite practiced in treating cases together here in our community. The Santa Barbara Dental Study Group, an affiliate of the Seattle Study Club network, is designed to promote lifelong learning in dentistry and is often referred to as a university without walls. Through monthly meetings, 37 dentists in this group keep abreast of the latest developments, treatment options and techniques available to their patients. The meetings give these dentists, orthodontists, periodontists, oral surgeons and other dental professionals a chance to sit down together, discuss cases and problem-solve in order to bring the highest level of dentistry to the patients in this community. Directors of the SBDSG are Dr. Ray Kubisch and Dr. Dennis Shanelec.

The Seattle Study Club is recognized as one of the most advanced continuing education groups for dental professionals in the nation. Members participate in hands-on demonstrations, problem-solving workshops, panel discussions and clinical treatment planning sessions as well as inviting internationally known speakers to share information at local meetings. Seattle Study Club is an international network of over 250 affiliated clubs with the combined membership of 6,700 dentists. For more information, visit www.seattlestudyclub.com.
