The jail rides program — which serves 50-75 late-night or early-morning releasees monthly — will continue another year, thanks to $10,000 awarded by county supervisors on 6/11. A taxi takes releasees to certain locations during public transportation off-hours; the program had been searching for ways to stay afloat after one of its main donors dropped out. On 7/1, the supervisors will consider allowing an outside religious organization to provide amenities.
