Just like every other politically important, controversial, critical environmental issue that has confronted Santa Barbara, now the disastrous fracking industry predictably will say anything to trick voters, and confuse and distort the issue in the hopes of winning on Election Day. Yes on Measure P to ban fracking in S.B. County — on the ballot November 4.

The decision will be made by voters, not the hustlers and cynical oil and gas company operatives or their public relations hacks and their millions of dollars of shameless propaganda.

In Santa Barbara, the voters have a record of protecting and preserving the environment, as I have seen in the 40 years I have regularly been visiting the town. In face of saturation media and mountains of devious election mail sponsored by the fracking syndicates, it’s up to the voters to ban this latest assault on paradise and vote yes on Measure P.

Here, in the spirit of Nelson Mandela, the people and voters remain vigilant through the decades and individually and together embrace a positive philosophy in this country, which Mandela expressed during his own remarkable, relentless pursuit of justice, freedom and the fight against repressive selfish interests.

In the cause today, voters of Santa Barbara are “the master of their fate … the captain of their soul.” Together vote yes on Measure P.
