Since 1950 the U.S. Navy has powered up to 100 aircraft carriers and subs with nuclear reactors. Years ago the Navy looked for the most efficient, safest, cleanest, and cheapest power source, and it found that nuclear was the winner by far.

Thousands of crew have served on these ships. In all those decades our Navy has suffered no radiation illnesses or deaths from these on-board reactors that can operate for up to 30 years without refueling. Only the false fears perpetuated by anti-nuclear groups forces America to keep using global warming fossil fuels. These groups inhibit research and construction of advanced, even safer reactors than today’s. The greatest irony is these anti-nuclear groups call themselves “environmentalists.”

In a half century of operations, reactors have the best safety record of all energy fuels. Many facts are omitted about reactor accidents. Did you know nobody died in the Fukushima accident? The UN reports no one will suffer radiation health damage, but if they do it will be “too small to detect.”

Big Tobacco fooled America for decades about cancer and smoking. Today a lot of blatantly false information has been put out about nuclear, perhaps backed by industries that would have a lot to lose if safe, clean atomic power takes over. Let’s get America to follow our U.S. Navy’s intelligent choice for atomic power. The Navy ignored baseless anti-nuclear fears, and so should we.
