Uncommon Brewers Siamese Twin
Uncommon Brewers Siamese Twin: Located in the Old Sash Mill in Santa Cruz is this certified organic, culinary-focused brewery, run by Alec Stefansky, who proudly proclaims, “We don’t do IPAs.”
Their top ale, Siamese Twin — currently available at Santa Barbara’s Sama Sama Kitchen, Mesa Verde, and Whole Foods — is a Belgian-style Dubbel brewed with lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, and coriander. Other locally sourced ingredients are featured in the Bacon Brown Ale (yep, bacon!), the Baltic Porter (whole licorice root and star anise), and the Golden State Ale (toasted poppy seeds).
“The goal was to explore beer flavors and styles that were being ignored by other brewers,” said Stefansky, and the Siamese Twin is a perfect example. “It’s a fun beer that defies expectations,” he explained, “deep amber in color with a deceptively smooth finish thanks to the citrus notes of lemongrass and kaffir lime.”
