It seems like a seismic change, to think of Geoff Green leaving the Fund for Santa Barbara after all these years. But much of Geoff’s success at the Fund for S.B. lay in making it such a strong, and pivotally important, organization in this community — and so his absence, while deeply felt, will not keep the fund from being the invaluable resource that it is.

It’s a little harder to imagine not having Geoff himself (El Jefe Geoff, I like to call him) there as the Endless Font of Nonprofit Wisdom. He’s certainly my go-to guy on everything from upping our fundraising game to developing a healthier Board of Directors. I can’t think of a retreat or workshop that I’ve attended in which he hasn’t played some part, even if just as emcee or background cheerleader. On the other hand, he surely deserves a rest, and a fresh challenge, after being everywhere, at everything, for so long.

On behalf of so many of us toiling in the fields of nonprofit work and social advocacy, thank you, Mr. Green, for being invariably kind, smart, good-natured, helpful, wise, and available.
