Alma Del Pueblo Reaches Platinum
Through strategies like water-conserving landscaping and indoor fixtures, energy-efficient designs and appliances, and increased building density, Alma Del Pueblo has achieved the coveted LEED Platinum certification.
The condo-and-storefront project located at the former Vons grocery store site at Victoria and Chapala streets successfully built 37 dwelling units to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes’ highest standard; only 6 percent of LEED-certified green constructions reach platinum status.
“We are proud to share this accomplishment with the dedicated team and partners who worked with us diligently to make this possible,” said Marge Cafarelli, principal of Urban Developments, which put together Alma Del Pueblo.
A press release from the group credited project team meetings and quality control of key risks for achieving their goal, and also the site’s proximity to public transportation, high density as a city infill development (40.2 units per acre), and the renewables and non-toxic materials used in construction.
