Goleta School District Reports Incident on Fairview Avenue

The Goleta Union School District reported an incident last Tuesday afternoon, in which a white man in his 40s or 50s pulled his brown or gray rusted car next to a 7th grade girl walking south on Fairview Avenue towards the Fairview Theater and asked her to get in his car. The man, whose face was covered with a dark scarf, sunglasses, and a beanie, asked the Goleta Valley Junior High School student to enter his car and show him where Costco and a church were located. The student refused, and the man asked if she was alone. He also asked if she wanted to “ride in his car to go wherever she wanted,” according to a report from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
