Bowing to a room full of politically savvy mothers, the Santa Barbara City Council on 12/4 conceptually approved plans to build a new children’s museum on city-owned land at 125 State Street. Despite that victory, the museum’s future is hardly assured. City planners just discovered that the property might be needed to provide parking for an approved new visitor center on lower State Street.
