“Buzz” Patterson to Entertain UCSB Republicans Tonight
Bill Clinton's Former Military Adviser Expected to Rail Against Democrats' Foreign Policy
Prolific author and retired Lieutenant Colonel Robert “Buzz” Patterson will speak at UCSB tonight, Wednesday, December 3, and offer his indictment of the Democratic Party’s policies on the War on Terror. Patterson, whose talk is being sponsored by the UCSB College Republicans, served as a military aide to President Bill Clinton and was part of the team that once carried the nuclear “football,” the black bag containing codes for the use of nuclear weapons.
“I hope that everyone who comes will get a sense of what is going on in the military from someone who has been there,” said Ryan McNicholas, College Republicans executive director. “Lt. Col. Patterson has been there and done that, so to speak, and has the experience to comment on current situations.”
While even some prominent Republicans, Colin Powell and Christopher Buckley among them, are gushing about President-elect Barack Obama, not everyone is on board, least of all Patterson. His books, the latest of which is the aggressively titled War Crimes: The Left’s Campaign to Destroy the Military and Lose the War on Terror, all attempt to eviscerate liberal politicians and policies from an “insider” perspective.
The talk will start at 8 p.m. in the Theater and Dance building, Room 1701.
