Art and Food, Very Good

The monthly 1st Thursday event already has established itself as an evening when the arts and food and drink and fun all get shaken up into one cool cocktail of Santa Barbara-ness, so it’s little surprise that Thursday, October 1-the kick-off day for epicure.sb, too-will be particularly frolicsome. One specific event looks promising: the Santa Barbara Arts Factory’s Launch Exhibit and Appetizer Pairing (208 Palm Ave., 6-10pm, thesbartsfactory.com).

Emilio’s Restaurant & Bar (emiliosrestaurant.com) not only will bring the food but also will donate 5 percent of the bar to Art From Scrap, so your drinks help kids learn about the arts. In addition to the wide range of art on display as part of the show’s opening, everything from body painting to sculpture, the event will feature Santa Barbara Food Not Lawns (sbfoodnotlawns.org), members of which will discuss the importance of the art of gardening, growing, and sharing food.
