Santa Barbara High will host Corona del Mar in a CIF Division 1 tennis semifinal match today (Tue., May 25), and the Dons’ baseball team will travel to a second-round Division 2 playoff game against Chaminade in West Hills. In action on local diamonds, Cate will host a Division 7 baseball playoff game, and Carpinteria a Division 6 softball game. UCSB plays its final home game of the season against Cal State Bakersfield.

Later in the week, football will be in the air. One hundred high school quarterbacks will gather at the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club on Friday and Saturday for the final competitive workouts of the 2010 Steve Clarkson Dreammaker Tour. Clarkson, a former quarterback himself, has developed a reputation for guiding such talents as Jimmy Clausen, Terrelle Pryor, Matt Barkley, Jake Locker and Dayne Crist.

Preceding the quarterback camp, on Thursday (May 27), Clarkson will host the Dreammaker Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic at the Montecito Country Club. Participants will include Hall of Famers Joe Montana (NFL) and Wayne Gretzky (NHL), as well as USC coach Lane Kiffin and UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel. The tournament begins at 10 a.m. For ticket information, visit

Randall Cunningham, a three-time MVP as quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings, is expected to make an appearance at Santa Barbara High on Saturday (May 29) to watch his fellow Dons take on San Marcos in an alumni football game. Billed as “Pandemonium at Peabody Stadium,” the game will generate funds for the two football programs. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. Tickets ($10 adults, $5 children 12 and under) are on sale at the schools.
