Prosecution Rests in Musser Murder Trial

The prosecution rested in its case against Garren Musser, who is accused of murdering 29-year-old Lisa Zazueta. A Santa Barbara jury has heard from Musser’s own mouth how he killed Zazueta, a married mother of two whom he had met at a bar weeks earlier. Musser confessed over and over in taped interviews with police. His attorney is not disputing that Musser killed Zazueta, but is saying he did it in a heat of passion, not with premeditation and deliberation—the difference between possible convictions of manslaughter and first degree murder.
