The Santa Barbara High School Cheer Competition Team won the national cheerleading title this past Sunday after going into the final round in first place. The young women were judged on their use of floor, showmanship, ability to hold up teammates safely and efficiently, and overall competitiveness. In preparation for the tournament, the girls practiced four days a week with a choreographer. Celebrations may have to wait, though. “Everyone’s exhausted,” said Easter Moorman, the mom of a freshman competitor. “The girls had to go back to school on Monday.”
