Instruments Needed to Donate to Youth

The need has never been greater and it’s never been easier to make a difference in your community. Here is your opportunity to put a musical instrument directly into the hands of a local music student.

Twin cups Drive-Up Coffee & Frozen Yogurt and Ablitt’s Fine Cleaners together with Patterson Self-Storage and The Carey Group, Inc. are collecting gently used musical instruments as part of the Santa Barbara Bowl and SB Education Foundation’s Annual Instrument Drive. Instruments of all levels are welcome and there is a strong demand for alto saxophones and clarinets as well as violins and guitars of all sizes. The instrument drive is dedicated to distributing musical instruments (from pianos to guitars), free of charge, directly to local musically inclined youth! Give a thoughtful gift to a budding musician by providing them with their own instrument to take home every night to practice, so they do not have to wait to use one at school.

Twin cups and Ablitt’s have made donating an instrument easy. Just bring your instrument to Twin cups Drive-Up at 5329 Calle Real (in front of Patterson Self-Storage) from 6:30 am – 4:30 pm weekdays and 7 am – 4:30 pm weekends or to Ablitt’s Fine Cleaners at 14 W. Gutierrez Street from 8 am to 7 pm weekdays and 8 am – 5 pm Saturdays, now through November 30, 2012. Twin cups and Ablitt’s will take care of the rest. All donated instruments will be cleaned, repaired and delivered to locations including numerous local schools, the Boys and Girls Club, Notes for Notes, and the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony for distribution to local aspiring student musicians in need.

Ablitt’s will also pick up your instrument at your home if you are a home delivery client.

Other drop off locations include: the box office at the Santa Barbara Bowl, the Santa Barbara Education Foundation, Nick Rail Music and the Community Affairs Board office at UCSB.

As a thank you, donors will receive a $5.00 gift card from Patterson Self-Storage to Twin cups that can be used toward a specialty coffee, frozen yogurt or pastry.
