Victim’s Family Can’t Sue Employer
Judge Colleen Sterne ruled the family of the late Sergio Romero, 15, couldn’t bring a wrongful death allegation against the employer of Manuel Flores Jr., the driver of the truck that struck Romero. That takes away the majority of the legal damages that had been available to the Romero family. Flores Jr. was driving the truck he used to collect grocery carts when he hit Romero, who was crossing Milpas Street in a crosswalk. He is now the lone defendant remaining in the civil suit.
