A California Highway Patrol officer on routine patrol on December 27 spotted a suicidal man walking on a metal guardrail on a Highway 101 over Milpas Street and was able to talk him down, according to authorities.

The Oxnard man, who had cut his wrists and was bleeding, was walking heel to toe with his arms extended for balance when he was contacted by Officer Dan Ralph who convinced the man to come down off the guardrail.

After temporarily being placed in handcuffs, the man was taken to Cottage Hospital for medical treatment.
