About 40 people came to the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History last Saturday to learn more about the Mission Canyon institution’s plans to expand and enhance its campus for the next century. The proposed changes, which have generated some controversy in the neighborhood, have been scaled back in square footage based on feedback from the community as well as from historical landmark commissioners, and the museum’s new director Luke Swetland also announced the phasing schedule and other plans to reduce off-site impacts. The same presentation will be given again this Thursday, March 14, 7 p.m., at the museum’s Fleischmann Auditorium. All are invited to listen and ask questions.
