Two storm systems moved through the tri-county region last week and brought with them some much-needed rain. The first storm, arriving in Santa Barbara County on 3/7, offered up barely measurable wet stuff for the entire South Coast. But the second system — a markedly larger affair that rumbled through early on 3/8 — delivered more than 0.6 inches of rain in addition to some hail in downtown Santa Barbara, nearly a full inch in Goleta, Lompoc, and Lake Cachuma, and just over an inch for Buellton. To date, according to county Flood Control data, Santa Barbara as a whole remains at just 54 percent of its average annual rainfall total while all reservoirs are well below capacity.
