Jackson Bill Would Benefit College Sex Assault Victims
State Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson has announced a bill that would require colleges and universities to strengthen policy language regarding sexual assaults on campuses. At a press conference in Sacramento, legislators of SB 967 said that the measure would establish more victim-centered policies and create a culture of “no excuses.” Jackson added that fewer than 5 percent of rapes on campuses are reported. In 2012, there were four reported rapes or sexual assaults on the UCSB campus.
