State Controller’s Office Also Demanding Goleta RDA Money
The State Controller’s Office has joined the Department of Finance to demand that the City of Goleta turn over more than $18 million in former Redevelopment Agency (RDA) funds. In a 2/13 letter to the city, the Controller’s Office said it reviewed asset transfers made by the RDA to the city between January 2011 and January 2012 and found that $18 million worth wasn’t allowed. The city is using the money to pay for the San Jose Creek project. An injunction prevents the state from taking the money until a judge makes a ruling later this year.
