The announcement that veteran police officer Ken Wojciechoski will be retiring at the end of the year elicited tears and praise alike at Tuesday’s city council meeting.Wojciechoski, or “Wojo” as he’s known, was a major sustaining force behind the program Police Activities League (PAL), which works to foster relationships with police officers and hundreds of underprivileged kids. There was no shortage of appreciation Tuesday for the serious commitment and compassion Wojo has put into his work in the 23 years he’s been at the department. “He will be missed,” said an emotional police chief Cam Sanchez. “He cannot be replaced.”
